Then we went to Ellis Island. Although, I personally didn't have any ancestors come through there, Frankie and Grant did. It was cool to look for their names and imagine them coming to America in the hopes of a better life!

New York - Day 2
Yesterday (Thursday) we began our New York visit by heading over to Time Square.
We started our day by having our first 15 minutes of fame...more like 2 seconds of fame. We stopped at the Today show and Matt Lower and his co-host (don't know her name) were coming out to do a segment. They stood right infront of us. We all got on TV. It was sooo coool!

New York Day 1
{Apologize for the not so user friendly format of this post and probably many to come. I really just want to document everything that we experience here as we go so I don't forget any of it.}
Quotes: Drew before the trip
do they have bathrooms there? how about shampoo and hairstuff?
To my sister: ' I better hurry and get packing. I have to pack all my hair stuff because they don't have any in New York'
Drew- "where are the mountains"
Drew - as we're eating tamales guatemaltecos "These are soooo goood. I love them and I think I'll marry them!"
Drew and Daddy took a special subway trip to the end of the line and back.
On the way back they saw a huge rat under a car.
Frankie:
first 5 minutes on the plane...had a bloddy nose..and as we tried to help we spilled a huge drink.
Ridding in my aunts Pink Cadillac! Awesomeness!
Me:
Smell of salt in the air.
Saw all the places that they have lived at, including the apartment where Mamatina paid her surprise visit years ago and where Scarlet lived.
Guatemalan food!! yuuum! I could live here just for that!
Loved seeing my cousins, aunt and uncle. I don't even remember how long it's been. I met Mikey for the first time. He is 21 now.
Hearing Sonia's story of how she got here.
Sweating like crazy...sweat dripping down places I rather not say.
Love the humidity (NOT!!!) because it brings out my very well hidden natural FRO!
Seeing the diversity: Jews ...long side locks and all. It was great! Seen them on TV but never in real life.
